My daughter was born last week on December 14th at 7:30 a.m. at St. David’s hospital. She weighed in at 7 pounds and 5 oz.
Here are some pictures of her:
This week when I checked the mail I received back a package that I had sent to Germany two months earlier! I had sent a CD to Bernhard who is an artist in Germany who I did a remix for and I put it on my latest CD “Keeping It Salty” I had checked with him several times and he said he had not received it. So eventually I sent him another CD to a different address and he received that one. So it’s fun that I sent a package all the way across the globe to Germany and now I have it back here.
This morning I participated in our church’s Hands on Housing project. We went to a house in East Austin and fixed up things on it like coating the outside of the house with a fresh coat of paint, replacing siding on the house and some of us went inside and hung some new ceiling panels on top of the existing ceiling in effect giving it a “new ceiling.” It was fun because I got to play with power tools. This time it was primarily using a drill. So we measured the ceiling panels and cut them out and then drilled them onto the existing wood ceiling. Part of the old ceiling was falling out. I used my strong arm muscles to hold up the ceiling panels and they definitely got a workout. It always feels good to help someone else out and get a workout at the same time. Something satisfied about it. So hope you all are having a great weekend too! God Bless.

Track 1 from my new CD, “Keeping It Salty” is called Undignified (Remix). The vocals on this one are by Sterling Allen. Sterling had been the worship leader at Bethany United Methodist Church a couple of years ago and I had the chance to work with him while I was working there also. We sat down one afternoon in the Sanctuary and he sang this song, I recorded it and this is what I came up with. The original version of it is by Matt Redman.
Sterling comments on the CD here:
“DJ Salty Flavor has done it again with this great album of remixes and dance music! His music is clearly put together with the hope of enjoyment by all who listen. Anyone looking for club style music with clean content should go immediately to this cd.” –Sterling M. Allen, A&M United Methodist Church College Station, Texas
This weekend was a busy one. Saturday morning a group of my friends and I did a 2 mile walk for Alzheimer’s disease which took about 45 minutes. After that we went home and had lunch and then I went to go DJ a special needs ministry dance at Bethany United Methodist Church from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. It was a dress-up Halloween kind of dance and it was fun to see the costumes of the attendees. I played a lot of fun Halloween music, including Thriller, Ghostbusters, People Purple Eater, and Monster Mash along with a lot of classic fun songs like Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Boot Scooting Boogie, and The Chicken Dance. It was a fun 2 hours of dance music and was the highlight of my weekend.
In addition, I had to work that night starting at 10:30 p.m. You might be wondering what do you go into work at 10:30 p.m. for. Well I went in to work to tear down a sound system that we had setup for a band for the National Black Forum for Public Administrators that night. Apparently somebody had conflicting information because we were told the band was done at 10:30 p.m. but when we got there the band was not done. They played till 10:45 p.m. and took a 45 minute break and then proceeded to play again at 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. People were leaving and were wishing us a good night and my boss commented well it’s really too late to have a good night it’s kind of like a good morning. So needless to say we ended up packing up the sound system and drove it back to City Hall and didn’t get done until 2:45 a.m. in the morning. What a night!
Sunday morning I went to church at Bethany United Methodist Church and came home for lunch. After lunch Christy (my wife) and I had some re-organizing to do. We reorganized and reallocated some closet space to make room for the new baby due in December. That involved throwing some old stuff away and going through some old things. We got ride of some junk, I am going to make a run to Salvation army tomorrow and we moved some other things around.
I then took a nap and then we went over to Christy’s Dad to have spagetti and meatballs for dinner. Now I am home and I am posting a blog about it. Hope you all had a great weekend too.
Josh Woodhouse is the mastering engineer for my latest CD, “Keeping It Salty.” He also helped me with the artwork design and the duplication. He is kind of an all in one shop for your CD production, mastering, duplication and artwork. It was cool to work with him.
I noticed that the picture on the back of my CD was slightly stretched and my wife noticed too. It wasn’t too apparent to some of my fans but none the less I wanted him to check it out. I brought it over to him and he agreed it was a little stretched and possibly explained why. He said that he would talk to his duplication artists about it and also to compensate me he would give me some free mastering.
So thanks Josh I appreciate that.
If you want to work with Josh Woodhouse for your next CD I definitely recommend him.

So as some of you know I had my CD release party this weekend on Saturday. It was a good turn out and I definitely had fun and felt the love from all the people that showed up.
You know I sent out the evite and I was hoping to see some people that said they would come and but then they didn’t and then some other people who said they wouldn’t or might not come came so it was fun to see who came out for the party.
I didn’t know Alex North was so good at ping pong!! I am not bad but I was out of practice and he beat me three straight games. I used to have a ping pong table when I was in high school and I got quite good but Alex must have been practicing in his spare time or something.
In addition I wanted to announce that my CD is available for purchase online now through CD Baby!

I also had fun on Saturday morning playing with power tools and helping fix the parking lot stoppers at Bethany UMC.
Hope you had a good weekend too!
I stopped by Wendy’s the other morning to see if they had a sausage biscuit to eat. They did so I ordered my sausage biscuit paid the man at the window, picked up my order and drove off.
When I opened up the heavy bag (thinking to myself this is a one BIG breakfast sausage biscuit) I found one breakfast taco and another type of biscuit with bacon and cheese on it. I continue on in my car sampling my new food items. I didn’t like them as much as I would have the sausage biscuit as I obviously had the wrong order but it was really tasty.
Yeah I was one of the three winners of the Missle Command Remix contest….

Yes that day has finally arrived. That day was Thursday and has gone and went by now. I am so excited about getting the CD. I listened to it with my wife and we were able to enjoy the music together. That same day I picked up 50 copies of my previous album “Trust in the Lord” and so now I am ready and armed with 250 copies of my music to hand out and sell in the next couple of months. I hope that many are sold and many are listened to and enjoyed in the coming months.
Until Next Time,
Be Blessed,
Matt Bryant aka DJ Salty Flavor
p.s. I am going to watch the movie Marley and Me now with my wife. I had IHOP this morning for breakfast…..hmmmm….yummy stuff.
